Matt Spillane (picture not available)

Matt Spillane, who is spending the summer working at the George Wright Golf Course and weekend-ing in Ogonquit, Maine, where he enjoys mountain biking, golfing, sailing, and fishing, will be a senior at Boston Latin this Fall, and hopes to go to either to Daniel Webster College in New Hampshire and Embry-Riddle College in Daytona Beach, Florida, next year, where he can major in Aviation Flight Operation. He did not know too much about Elie Wiesel going into the project and really feels her learned a lot about him. What really stands out for him is that, ". . . someone who has gone through so much as he has was able to come out and share his thoughts and feelings and share his message with the world." His most lasting impression was that "One person can make a difference." He also feels strongly that the research and the web-page creation skills that he and his team members developed through the project were incredibly valuable- as well as interesting and fun. Moreover, working on a team, he felt that each of the three of them learned a lot more about each other's areas of expertise: he brought a background in A.P. Computer, another member was from the Facing History class, and the third was an English A.P. student. "I, in particular, learned a lot about research."
