“Individual commitment to a group effort--that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.” - Vince Lombardi

Victoria Bartolome

My name is Victoria Bartolome and I am currently a junior at BLS. In my spare time, I like to play basketball, listen to music, and hang out with friends. I became involved in the Seevak competition because I have an interest in activism and also found it as a good chance to work closely with some of my peers, namely Will and Hai. I’ve found this year’s seevak experience to be a fulfilling one since I did get to meet Yuri Kochiyama myself and through our research, have extreme admiration for her. I’ve also really enjoyed working with Will and Hai because they are convenient fellows who are very easy to work with! I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and hope everyone will enjoy our site as much as we enjoyed making it.

Hai Son

My name is Hai Son and I'm a junior at Boston Latin School. I enjoy playing Warcraft, listening to music, and watching tv when I'm at home. However, recently I found the new love of my life. We're always on the road and it isn't hard to spot us because we're pretty noticable. A few months ago Will and Vicky approached and asked me to join the group. Not only did the Seevak competition allowed me to express my creativity but it also allowed me to learn about great individuals who took a chance to make things better for the general people. Working with Will and Vicky was quite an experience. I've never really worked in a group with this much ease.

Will Phan

Like my partners I am a junior working my way through high school. This is my second year doing a Seevak project (the second time with Victoria), and this year has been even more fun than the last! Working with my teammates has been a blast, and learning about Yuri Kochiyama also very interesting. I’m very proud of the work we put into this and hope that the website can be of use to anyone else visiting the site.

Many thanks to our Seevak Teacher Advisor, Catherine B. Arnold! She was a great help in keeping us focused and on task during these months.

We also give our thanks to Ms. Fitzgerald at Women Make Movies for allowing us to use video clips from their movie, Yuri Kochiyama: A Passion for Justice. Find their wbsite at http://wmm.com.
