Tom M. Keane Jr. is a general partner in Murphy and Partners, LP, founded by John J. Murphy Jr. Presently, he directs a party rental company called Celebration Events and Mosaica Education, which manages educational services for K-12. He also directed Little Tornadoes, a company that manages commercial websites, and Ruxton Health Care until they were sold. He joined Murphy & Partners in 1990 after founding Legend Medical Services, Inc., a portfolio company for Murphy & Partners. He was the executive vice president, chief financial officer, and director of Legend, Inc. Legend, Inc. obtained and managed accomplished nursing facilities. Murphy & Partners is a private equity investment firm and has over $75 million of direct private equity investments. The firm consists of four partners with great experience in organizing, structuring, and managing private equity fund investments. Murphy & Partners consists of a highly experienced team of four private-equity professionals with over 100 years experience investing and building companies. We have extensive operational and investment expertise. Though usually ignored by the low/middle market, the firm continued to seek beneficial occasions with strong potential and resulting with a typical equity investment of $1.0 to $10.0 million. Before Legend, Inc., Mr. Keane gave financial and business consulting to various businessmen. From 1983 to '87, he was the vice president, chief financial officer, and director of International Health Care Corporation (IHC). IHC operated seven substance abuse facilities and two health maintenance groups, along with other health care companies. Mr. Keane was a co-founder of IHC and wrote its business plan. It was through IHC that Mr. Keane met Mr. Murphy. Mr. Keane has a J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School in Charlottesville, VA, and a B.A. magna cum laude from Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. He's a member of the Massachusetts Bar and was a Boston City Councilor for six years, from 1994 to 1999. In 2001, he began working for The Boston Herald , and in 2005 he began writing for The Boston Globe . He has served on the board for many non-profit and charitable organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts, the Rapport Institute at the Harvard University School of Government, Boston Children's Theatre, Catholic Memorial High School, the Boston Foundation for Architecture, Ellis Memorial House, and ArchitectureBoston . Mosaica Education, Inc. is one of the nation's leading private operators of public school . It is directed by Tom Keane Jr., who is a general partner in Murphy & Partners.
