On January 23rd, 2007, Ms. Arnold organized and supervised the first ever Youth Can, or in other words, the Youth Climate Action Network. First thoughts about the club were introduced by a group of her students. She thought it was a good idea, and told the students to approach the Mr. Flynn, the floormaster, about creating a new club. The club was approved, and Ms. Arnold and her students were eager to start changing the world.
The group strives to inform people about climate change and especially global warming. Youth Can's main goal is to have our nation be more green. For example, right now Youth Can is trying to get solar panels for the Boston Latin School roof. This organization involves more than 300 students and has about 16 networking members/schools:

Under her supervision, this group has organized seminars, meetings, summits, and other informative events. The group once raised $5,000 selling compact fluorescent light bulbs.As she was describing her experience she recalls, "When the office called me on the intercom saying that I've got mail, I came down during a free period, and saw boxes upon boxes of fluorescent light bulbs up to the ceiling." Ms. Arnold spends every waking moment on Youth Can. She couldn't be more proud of what this afterschool club became. She says that it is important for people to know about these drastic changes in nature; that it is affecting everyone, but moreover the next generaton. This is a cause that she is truly passionate about.
