Jordan Thomas

Jordan Thomas is the founder of the Jordan Thomas Foundation, an organization that helps children to get prosthetic limbs. While Jordan was scuba diving in the Florida Keys in 2005 at the age of 16, he was struck by a boat propeller and lost both of his legs. During his rehabilitation, he saw many children who could not get prosthetics because they did not have enough money. He decided, while still in the hospital, to create a foundation to help these children. The foundation is currently providing prostheses for five children. Jordan Thomas has received a number of awards, including a CNN Heroes award in 2009, the Mohamed Amin Award for Humanitarian Service awarded by the the Board of the Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists in 2010, and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor award in 2010 for his efforts in providing prosthetics to children.
