Al Gore was both a Senator and a U. S. Representative for the State of Tennessee. He started off his political career after Congressman Joe L. Evins retired after 30 years of service. In March of 1976, he quit law school and decided to run for the United Sates house of Representatives. He ran for the state of Tennessee and defeated Stanley Rogers in the Democratic Primary, and then won with a landslide in the general election.

He was re-elected three times until 1978 until he decided to run for Senator. He won in 1978, 1980, 1982, and 1984. He served as Senator for Tennessee until 1993, when he became the Vice President under Bill Clinton.

During his stay in Congress, he was a member of several committees including the Armed Services, Commerce and Transportation, Joint Committee on Printing, Joint Economic Committee, and Rules and Administration. After his political career ended, Al Gore went into the Global Warming Awareness business.
